Four buddies, Jim (Jason Biggs), Oz (Chris Klein), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), and Stifler
(Sean William Scott), are still obsessed by what happened to them during their prom night in high school. Now on their summer break after finishing their first year of
college, they take a house along the beach and attempt to continue with their sexual activities. It becomes a no-holds-barred season of obsessed pursuit to fulfill their
desires, which culminates at an end-of-summer farewell party.
The original American Pie (1999) took $11 million to produce and earned $150 million.
This was more than enough incentive to come up with a second production involving the same theme and cast. There is barely a plot, attached to which are the various adventures
and misadventures of young sex-driven guys out to make their scores. The performance is adequate. In fact the four young men look natural in their roles, especially Jason
Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, including Jim's father (Eugene Levy).
The whole film, one episode after another, is filled with how sexually obsessed the young men
are. The humor is crude and indecent, although there are a few funny instances for spontaneous and real laughter. However, many are the uncomfortable and embarrassing moments
for the audience. It is high in sexual content, nudity, gross humor, very suggestive language and drinking. It being a comedy, this film is seen as morally dangerous, as it
trivializes what we know to be wrong. The audience is made to laugh at the sexual misadventures, showing them to be commonplace and even acceptable. In the process of being
amused, the viewers tend to lose sight of the basic principles of real relationships, self-control, continence, lifelong commitment and sacrifice. The American culture of
"get-it-if-you-can", "have-what-you-desire" is unchristian. It points to the value of pleasure, giving in and having a good time; or "if-you-feel-like-it, do it." CINEMA
advises that only those who have the maturity to be critical about what it shows and what it says may see American Pie 2.
