One morning, naïve 15-year-old Florian (Tobias Schenke) awakens to his growing sexual urges.
He now pays less attention to his childhood friend Lisa; instead, he has become strongly attracted to the voluptuous and"know-it-all" Leony. His parents prove inadequate in
their attempt to give him lessons about "the birds and the bees". To be able to attract and make it out with Leony, he tries to get – with his buddy Red Bull's help –
information from other sources: phone sex, for which he runs up a large dollar account; tips from his buddy and consultations in the Kamasutra; lessons from a sympathetic
elderly prostitute. Results of all these do not help; they only confuse. But the events have a way of taking unexpected turns. This is how he learns his real lessons.
Technically, there is nothing spectacular in the film. The scenes, though not in very good
color, are well directed as scenes in ordinary life. The dialogue however, is frank and rather shocking at times but it is the life depicted by the film. Tobias Schenke gives
a good performance of a rather confused boy.
More mature minds are better prepared to take this movie as a comedy for entertainment, rather
than a film on sex. Such viewers can see that reality should be the opposite. This film thus, is not wholesome for general patronage, as it might encourage young people to
emulate what is done to the movie. For instance, Flo's obsessive attention to his sexual urges; or the seeking out a prostitute for help to initiate him into sex. For parents,
Ants in the Pants can be an eye opener to make them realize how seriously teenagers need help regarding their sexuality. Parents should be prepared to educate their
children about it, so they do not get the wrong information from questionable sources.
