Vince Downy (Dax Shepard) and Zack Reid (Dave Cook) are employed by the Super Club, a large supply
depot. Vince is recognized as the "fastest cashier ringer at the checkout" within the southwest business district. This skill has helped him win the Employee of the
Month contest 17 times in a row. He is expected to win again at the end of the month.
Zack, on the other hand, is easy-going and has the tendency of being late for work. He is called the "box boy" because he is a stock clerk in charge of moving the boxes in storage. The two guys become similarly struck by Amy's (Jessica Simpson) attractive looks, when Super Club employs her as cashier, to fill in a vacancy, and work with Vince. Both become intense rivals for her favor. Realizing that he is at a great disadvantage, Zack determines to become the Employee of the Month.
The plot moves around two workers vying for newcomer Amy's affection. Their attempts are a
series of acts, outdoing each other to become the winner.
This competition comes in the midst of the employees' lineup of contests" a baseball challenge and a whole day marathon of various games. In between, to maintain the average movie length, are the antics and acts of misbehavior of the ensemble cast of actors - employees, trying to bring on laughs. All these make up a choppy story. The main cast of Simpson, Shepard and Cook appear not too sure of how to handle their roles effectively.
As the competition for Amy progresses in intensity, the rivals begin to take desperate measures,
to the extent of using unfair and deceitful means to win. The objective is no longer proving one could be an outstanding worker.
Instead it is to impress someone and win her favor. Zack tries hard to win the contest. With his grandmother's help, he realizes that he should prove that he could be an exemplary person and worker. It turns out that Amy is not what she is rumoured to be: one who easily falls for "employees of the month". The main thing to look out for is the use of objectional language, some of which are accompanied by derisive laughter or with shouting, on such as sexual matters, gay-bashing, racial-putdown, etc.
