Unaware that he is walking into the path of an oncoming bus, because he is gazing at the face on the cellphone he and his buddy found, Marco (Dingdong Dantes) is suddenly pushed away by an elderly lady (Gloria Romero) who gets hit instead. It looks like she recognized him from somewhere. When he meets the cellphone's owner, Lianne (Karylle) she has the same reaction as the elderly lady. She seems to be familiar with Marco's face, but cannot place him.  By some unexplained fluke, Marco finds himself talking to a woman on the phone which he has yet to dial. Surprised by such an unusual happening, each would lift the phone at different times, and immediately the one on the other line is sure to do the same. This becomes a regular practice, until Marco wants them to meet. Two times they fail to see each other at the appointed place - beside a huge tree by the river - which they could not explain, until Divina (Iza Calzado) gives as proof of presence her name carved on the tree-trunk. Marco finds it, but also discovers that the year Divina etched on the trunk is 1957. He also finds out that the phone he uses to contact Divina is not connected to a line at all. He is bewildered, and tells her of his discoveries, but by this time, the two are in love - she living in 1957, he in 2006.

It is a romantic film which has its own touches of the fantastic, making it different from other movies of the same genre, like, "Somewhere in Time". The unusual story written by Annette Gozon Abrogar is transformed into an interesting script by Gina Tagasa, producing an entertaining story.  The notable acting of the cast, the directing, costume, cinematography, music and the idyllic rural setting crowned by a well-preserved Spanish-era house should be credited for making it an uplifting movie.

Although Moments of Love is a fantasy romance that requires the viewer's suspension of disbelief to be enjoyed, there are also human situations and values worth noting.  The characters, except one, are good people. Marco feels that he owes it to Rosa Santos (Gloria Romero) who saved his life, to take care of her hospital expenses. Karylle is willing to sacrifice her love just so her beloved would be free to go after his. Divina is shown as a loving and dutiful daughter who is willing to listen and obey her father (Chinggoy Alonzo) if he insists that she marry Juancho (Paolo Contis) to save their family from financial ruin. But the father changes his mind just in time, as he realizes the daughter has a right to happiness, her own choice of her partner in life.  To depict how good people are and can be, in contrast, it is necessary to show how the shamed Juancho could be so selfish and violent when he wants something. Love is the gift of self, and transcends time and place says Moments in Love.
