CBCP SETS NEW "CATHOLIC TV ADVOCACY SEMINAR"
September 17-18, 2004

Last June, the Office on Women of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines held a successful seminar, "Catholic Advocacy for Television in the Philippines," at the PopePiusCenter.

The pioneering seminar effectively sought to understand television in all its aspects as it is currently being practice in the Philippines, with the view in mind of objectively and proficiently evaluating the effect of TV programs, particularly on young viewers.

It then went on to launch a Catholic initiative for regular TV assessment and review, for the guidance of parents and educators, who are concerned about what children and youth viewers watch on television.

The seminar's success has prompted requests for another workshop, so the CBCP – Office on Women is holding another seminar on "Catholic Advocacy for Television in the Philippines" on September 17-18 (Friday and Saturday), this time at the CBCP – Office on Women, 470 Gen Luna Street, Intramuros Manila, Call 527—1925 and 527-8031 for details.
