Rating / Classification / Review of weekly films

  • This is a task accomplished by a minimum of 3 Cinema members – (1) Board writer (1) Board member (1) member who supports the assessments of the group after with a consensus is met on the rating and classification of the film.
     
  • (3) Films are rated every week and released CINEMA Bulletin every Friday.
     
  •  Cinema Bulletin is distributed at the end of Friday to all parishes of the Archdiocese of Manila, Archbishops / bishops of CBCP, MTRCB, major schools in Metro Manila, key cities, and interested people. 

Training Programs for prospective raters and reviewers.

Four times a year a seminar on Review and Classification is given by CINEMA for prospective candidates. Resource persons who can enrich the participants' knowledge on film rating and classification are invited.  In the past among those who have been invited were Directors Marilou Diaz-Abaya, Laurice Guillen, Fr. Nick Cruz, SJ, and Fr. James Rauter, SJ.

    The following are the Seminar topics given:

    Session 1: "The Making of Film: Social Responsibilities in Film Making, Rating and Review:
    Session 2: "Moral Principles and its Application in Film Making, Rating and Review"
    Session 3: Lecture and Workshop: "Film Sensibility and Sensitivity"
    Session 4: "Film Genre and Its Central Idea"
                   "Language and Grammar"

Workshop follows after the lecture portion that includes film viewing and practicum on hoe to accomplish the Assessment form.

After the 2-day seminar, a month long training is given to the participants to actually rate, classify, and review films assigned to them.  After the training period the candidates are evaluated and those with potentials are officially appointed.   Reviewers are given a longer period of training.

 

OTHER ACTIVITIES

    Other educational activities include giving talks on matters related to films, radio interviews, and TV appearances when invited

    Provide information to researchers and graduates students in search of materials and information about films.
