Katie (Jessica Simpson) a small-town girl from Kansas, goes to New York to look for better job opportunities. She catches the attention of Sandra Connelly (Penelope Ann Miller), a vice president of a business conglomerate, who is dead set on becoming president, by hook or by crook. But first she must get rid of the CEO Richard Connelly (Larry Miller). She takes Katie into the firm, and by manipulating her and making her do things that would turn the CEO’s work and life topsy-turvy, she would surely get what she wants. However, Sandra has no idea what Katie is capable of, though she is a country-girl.

Blonde Ambition is a simple story that deals with familiar situations that could happen to a young lady who leaves home to find a better life in a big city. She puts her trust in the wrong hands, and finds herself being used. However, the surprise turn of the story is that she has intelligence and creativity to deal with the unscrupulous Sandra and her loyal assistant Frankie, to try to outwit them. A side story has to do with a guy who takes care of the office mail, Ben (Luke Miller), who appears to be easy-going, but there are certain things about him which would be eventually revealed. The movie lacks depth to catch the viewers’ interest. The cast could have been better.

In the end, all the efforts of Sandra and her cahoot Frankie gained them nothing, but the coming of the lawmen. CEO Connelly was immediately restored to his rightful position. Katie was a discovery. She was duly awarded and also given a position in the firm. And she refused to reconcile with her philandering fiancé. This could have been a more interesting film with a better script and acting.
