VISION-MISSION AND GOALS
VISION
In Collaboration with the aspirations of the Association of Archdiocesan Schools of Pampanga (AASP), SAINT CATHERINE’S ACADEMY envisions itself as a vibrant and viable choice for Catholic families at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish and Christ, Light of the Nations Parish who desire a high quality and faith-based educational experience.
MISSION
A community of students, faculty, families, staff and clergy, SAINT CATHERINE’S ACADEMY is dedicated to provide the best Christ-centered Catholic Education in Porac, Pampanga through the disciplines of Academic Excellence (Scientia), Spiritual and Moral Formation(Fides), Apostolic Action, Social Awareness and Responsibility (Patria).
Saint Catherine’s Academy exists as an active agent of the teaching ministry of the Universal Catholic Church. Its existence and operations serve to respond to Jesus’ call for sharing in his work of transforming society through education.
The mission statement of St.Catherine’s Academy distinguishes the organization from the other educational organizations. While public schools serve as agents of the state, SCA works as an agent of the Catholic Church and caters mainly to Catholic population of Porac, Pampanga. While all other private schools work for their own objectives, SCA works primarily for the transformation of man through genuine Catholic education.
The mission statement presents the philosophy of integrating the three core values of FIDES, PATRIA, and SCIENTIA of the whole organization which are explicitly illustrated in the official logo of the organization. As an educational institution, SCA values SCIENTIA (Knowledge), as a civic organization, SCA promotes PATRIA (patriotism) and as an arm of the Catholic Church, its serve to nourish the FIDES (faith). SCA believes in the philosophy of integrating these three core values in the total formation of every individual.
Following the mission statement, strategic goals are provided to explicit ate the direction of the whole organization.
GOALS
1. To maintain and enhance the Catholic character of the school system.
2. To provide a relevant and challenging curriculum and pursue a classroom learning culture where Christian Formation and Academic Excellence are valued and pursued.
3. To complement the academic curriculum with stimulating extra- curricular programs and activities which will provide students with spiritual, intellectual, social, athletic, and esthetic learning.
4. To develop and implement a quality control system that will ensure that the school delivers the best possible education to students.
5. To take advantage of the advancement in information technology in the enhancement student learning and improvement of school processes.
6. To develop and maintain a physical plant which is attractive, functional and safe and which shall provide hygiene, health care, sports, library facilities and an environment in harmony with needs of the student.
7. To support and encourage the continued professional growth and faith development of all staff.
8. To develop and implement a plan for school and community partnerships where students can participate in organized Christian service projects.
9. To encourage and facilitate the active involvement of all who are responsible for and contribute to the education of students in our school.
10. To improve the financial and fiscal condition of the organization and ensure that resources are directed in a manner that will best serve the educational needs of students.
These official goals state the intentions of St. Catherine’s Academy in every endeavor. Faithful to its mission, the institution set up goals that put great emphasis on the integral process of formation rather than compartmentalized endeavor. It seeks to relate the moral (fides), intellectual (scientia), and social patria) dimension of the human person in every step and program it designs for the whole organization.
There is no mention of profit maximization in the stated goals of the institution in as much as it exists as a non-profit and non- stock organization. Nonetheless, sound financial management is also a vital part of its operations. This aspect must be attended to in order to ensure apt financing of programs and better facilities and services for the clients and personnel.
The gradual realization of this mission will take place in the nurturing of Christian relationship based on mutual respect, responsibility, discipline, genuine care, concern and compassion as embodied in the policies, rules and regulations, programs and services of the school and reflected in their implementation. It also takes place in the content and processes of all curricular, co curricular and extra-curricular activities in the different disciplines and subject areas. Like for instance, in studying the subjects the students will learn (knowledge takes place) all the four types of language competencies: reading, speaking, listening and writing; learn the current issues and trends in mathematics; the significance of science and technology to society on how things in this world move and change; a thorough knowledge of one’s culture should lead every citizen toward awareness of natloyalty; improve skills in different sports; learn the doctrine like get to know God as a loving parent. It follows also the awareness on national and international issues (patriotism develops); promote better interpersonal relationship between school and the local community; value the heroic deeds of our national heroes; discover cultural attributes. Finally their faith in God is also deepened through awareness of God’s creation; translate their Christian faith into attitudes and values of daily life and discern their daily events; builds a community of Christian disciples.
